Emad Meteb's agent Nader Shawki has revealed that the reason why Meteb played was because of a misunderstanding between him and the City representative Mohamed Hamid.
Shawki claimed that he was told that Meteb was allowed to play in the Cairo derby and Meteb had meant no disrespect to City or Gary Johnson - despite Johnson telling him there was no chance of him playing.
Speaking to Filgoal.com, Shawki said: "A misunderstanding made us believe that Emad's participation in the game is fully acknowledged by Bristol.
"Bristol's representative Mohamed Hamid informed us that there will be no problem if Meteb played his last game.
"But then we were surprised to learn the frustration of Bristol officials to the extent that the transfer could be cancelled.
"I have already spoken to Johnson and I hope we can resolve the problem, because Emad didn't mean any disrespect to the English club."
