LATEST TRANSFER NEWS.....

Crewe Alexandra have today rejected two bids for striker Nicky Maynard from both Bristol City and Ipswich Town.

Maynard, who bagged 15 goals last season even though he suffered a broken leg, is valued at £2mil by the Railwaymen but neither City's or Ipswich's bids have been deemed reasonable.

Bradley Orr was last night linked to Blackburn Rovers as new boss Paul Ince looks to build his own squad.

The former MK Dons boss is said to have been impressed with Orr's performances of last season, which was recognised by his fellow professionals earning him a place in the Championship's Players XI. But sources at Ashton Gate are denying any approach from the Lancashire based club.

Emad Meteb looks ever likely to sign according to the Bristol Evening Post as the Egyptian's only other interest has pulled out.

Birmingham City were apparently also trailing the Al-Ahly hot shot but have pulled out during negotiations making Ashton Gate a likely destination for Meteb. Gary Johnson visited the striker in Cairo last week and presented him with videos of the club which has apparently persuaded Meteb to join City.

Finally Bristol City have announced that they are not interested in signing free agent Kevin Phillips. The former West Brom striker looks set join Birmingham City next week.
