Bristol City are said to be one of a number of teams chasing Crewe Alexandra's young forward Nicky Maynard according to skysports.com.
The 21 year old has hit 35 goals in 65 matches for the Railwaymen and has attracted interest of both Premier League and Championship clubs. Ipswich Town are believed to have made the first move on the Crewe graduate, an offer which is said to be over £1million.
A host of other clubs join City and the Tractor Boys including Middlesbrough, Fulham and Hull City, who beat Bristol City in the penultimate Play off final last may.
The release of this news could mean that City have lost interest in Nathan Tyson after demands from Nottingham Forest wanting an increased bid, but for the prospect that is Maynard, Gary Johnson may wish to pay that little extra than first intended.
