METEB MAKES SURPRISE FINAL APPEARANCE FOR AL-AHLY

Last night Emad Meteb shocked Bristol City fans as he turned out for Al-Ahly in their African Champions League derby match versus Zamalek.

Bristol City fans had been told by Gary Johnson that the new signing would not be able to play in the match as his registration with Al-Ahly would be cancelled in order to apply for a work permit.

But news filtered through from Egypt over the weekend that the Egyptian striker would be named in the 18-man squad for the match on Sunday. However, he was selected in the starting line-up and played the whole 90 minutes.

Thankfully, for all parties, Meteb came out of the game without a knock or injury and was carried around on his shoulders by his team mates after the final whistle in Al-Ahly's 2-1 victory, saying good-byes to fans and players.

But what City fans will now be asking is who lied? Johnson had told us that he would not take any part in the match and supposedly both Al-Ahly and Meteb would have had to agree to this part of the deal, yet he went on anyway.

Will this incident mean City pull the plug? It's unlikely after the amount of time and money in the deal but time will tell how this one ends....
