Nicky Carle today completed his long awaited move to Championship rivals Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.
Carle, who signed for City in January, made 17 starts as City tried to gain promotion to the Premier League but failed to score during his spell at Ashton Gate. However the Australian international was one of the key players in The Robins play-off victory over Palace in May, which caught the attention of Palace boss Neil Warnock.
The ex-Newcastle Jets midfielder today signed a 4 year deal at Selhurst Park, but Gary Johnson was quick to re-assure fans he was sold with the club's best interests in mind. "I can understand any surprise there is amongst our supporters but I think I've been here long enough for people to know... every decision I make is for the betterment of this football club."
Johnson also went onto to mention that last weeks signing Gavin Williams is not a direct replacement for the departing Aussie, he also stated that a lack of goals from Carle was another reason for the sale.
